WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
My name is Stacey Black and I am from Columbia, South Carolina. I create miniature watercolor and pen & ink paintings. They are typically whimsical and often evoke a sense of peace. I sell original paintings and prints, along with stickers, buttons, and magnets all featuring my art.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
When I am sitting down to begin a piece, I sketch an illustration in pencil and then with a very fine ink pen I create my permanent line work. Next, the painting comes to life with watercolor as the final step!
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by nature and cozy places. I love a sweet A-frame cabin nestled in the woods.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I am an avid collector of vintage porcelain cats.
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
When I am creating, I feel a sense of peace. It’s meditative in a way as I plug into my earbuds and work while the time just passes by without me realizing.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Keep doing what you love and if you want to sell, don’t give up. It takes some time, but your people will find you.
