Our Fall Event is on Nov 1st 5-9pm + Nov 2nd from 12-4pm.
WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
My name is Emily, I’m from Alaska and am heading to occupational therapy school in the fall! Currently, I’m having fun designing and beading earrings.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I love to learn! My undergraduate degree was in biology and it actually taught me so much about my faith as a follower of Jesus. My microbiology degree strengthened my faith because I just saw it as a way to learn more about how God created everything we can observe in physics, chemistry, and biology. I want to share these stories of how the lord has shown me his creation through wearable art.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I love adventure, traveling, Jesus, mountains, and anything outdoors. I love to incorporate all of these through color and design to represent a larger story behind the pieces I create.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I lived and worked on a glacier as a dog sledding tour guide one summer in Alaska!
FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
Being from Alaska and my first time to this part of the country, it’s so cool to see all the actual locations where history took place that I’ve read and learned about during school growing up. I’m exited to check out the historical sites!
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
I started out by making my own earrings because I wanted something that no one else was making or that I could find for sale. I love using this medium to create new ideas!
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Trust your own style!
