Meet The artist

WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I am an interdisciplinary artist focusing on identity, girlhood, and online aesthetics. I received her Master of Fine Arts at Winthrop University and her Bachelor of Science from Birmingham-Southern College. I am currently located in Charlotte, NC. I started Maddie Monstera as a way for anyone, no matter their financial status, to enjoy my art. I sells stickers, small prints, and tufted rugs.

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
I am an interdisciplinary artist who works predominantly in digital drawing, installation. My work is heavily influenced by online aesthetics geared towards women, which connects to my conceptual ideas on rituals and consumerism and how the work looks visually. The work is playful with bright color schemes, combinations of uncommon materials, and bizarre scenes.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I get my inspiration from my pet rats and spending way too much time on TikTok.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I’ve been a pescatarian for about 15 years. My parents thought it was a phase, but obviously not (lol).

FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
’ve never been to Downtown Augusta but I’m really excited to see it! I’ve only ever driven through Augusta on the drive back and forth to my undergraduate school.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
I honestly just love surrounding myself with pretty and meaningful things. While my work may not always be pretty to everyone (or even myself), I hope that people feel seen and understood by my work.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Just get started. Nothing will ever be perfect or the way you want it at the beginning. The best part of being a small business is that it’s small and you can learn and grow at your own pace.
