WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
I’m Summer Gibson! I’m a North Augusta native but currently I create unique hand beaded accessories out of my home studio in Greenville, SC.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
My process is something I have developed through trial, error, and lots of experimentation over the last decade. I hand make every single piece of jewelry that I sell and that attention to detail & craftsmanship is a cornerstone of my brand.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I derive a lot of my inspiration from other art forms- paintings, sculptures, and what I see being presented in the editorial fashion world.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I am a long time lover of the Handmade Fair and was a vendor at the very first event they held (back when my business was still a baby!)
FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
Downtown Augusta has cultivated such a unique and thriving art scene. It’s always been here, but getting to see it shape the way downtown looks over the years is really cool. I love coming into town and seeing what new mural or new artsy small business has popped up since I last visited.
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
For me, design is a way to process your life experience.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Keep at it! Growth isn’t always linear, so if your business or art doesn’t look how you *think* it should by a certain deadline it’s ok! There is always something new to learn.
