WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
’m Jadie Ward, originally from North Augusta, SC and now living in Augusta, GA! I’m a college student pursing my love for art while growing my passion for plants and nature. My work brings together creativity, care, and a mission to aid in a greener world.
I have carefully hand painted and weather proofed plant pots, carefully crafted beautiful Terrariums, and locally grown house plants and propagations. I use reclaimed and up-cycled glassware for house plant propagations and self sufficient terrariums. Each terrarium is carefully assembled and then monitored until all plant life is fully established. My brand is centered around reclaiming and up-cycling items that would otherwise end up in landfills. Most of the recycled and up-cycled glassware are vintage or antique, and all of it is unique! Giving new life and purposes to plant items and glassware is my way of aiding in a cleaner and greener world; hence “The Green Corner”.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
After curating unique glassware from estate sales, second hand sales, and auctions, I begin my process. Once cleaned, sealed, and (if needed) refined, I carefully layer the terrarium foundation. I personally forage and hand collect many varieties of local moss and foliage. Each terrarium scape is carefully crafted to fit each unique piece of glass, giving a beautiful mini environment.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I have so many creative ideas constantly flowing in my mind that I want to share with others. This goes hand in hand with my love for integrating plants into the home or other social spaces. I believe it improves the quality of physical and mental health. This is my way of combining my passions with the mission of reusing and reducing.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I have two beautiful cats that can often be found in my artwork or on my hand painted pots. They are my babies that love my plants just as much as I do!
FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
The social atmosphere of downtown Augusta is very affections! The constant events along with local business participation creates a fun and vibrant space. First Fridays are a great way to have a fun, safe night out while exploring local!
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
I love spreading my passions and interests with others! The conversations I have with those who are well versed in my field of interest are very important to me! I also love building a connection with those who are just starting their journey in these areas and being able to share tips and tricks of the trade!
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Jump in! It can be nerve racking, but you are so much more capable and willed than you may think! Even if you have to take a few steps back, you will still be on the path to making your dreams a reality! You can do anything you put your mind and time to!
