Eclectic Crochet Accessories.

Meet the Maker:

WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
My name is Allyssa K. Blair and I am proud to call Augusta my hometown. I do many, MANY things, but my heart is in the arts and you can catch me at the Augusta Mini Theatre Arts & Life Skills School having the best time!

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
My process begins by thinking of something that is needed and not just nice to have. Something that is functional, yet fashionable. Something that can be worn multiple ways. Then I sketch it out, try a few stitches to see which one fits that garment best, choose colors and crochet until I’m tired of that stitch lol

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Honestly, the weather. That’s actually how Creative Crochet started. I was really cute and really cold but I didn’t feel like putting on a jacket because my outfit was E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G and a jacket or coat would have covered that. So, I decided to make something that would cover just my arms and wouldn’t disturb the rest of my outfit and as I wore it people loved it and ordered it and Creative Crochet was born. So yeah, the weather kind of inspires what I make and how I make it.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I make almost everything I wear! I’m 6ft tall with long arms and legs. Clothes are either too short, too tight, too big, too plain or just not me. One day, God told me to stop complaining and start sewing.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
The Riverwalk! Imagine its Wednesday, about 8:30 in the morning. You’re sitting by the river on a bench listening to the breeze blow through the trees and watching the water ripple as a small boat passes by. You can hear the birds chirping and see squirrels racing up a tree. Then you spot the cutest elderly couple on their morning walk and they shout “Good morning darlin’!” as they pass by. Its so peaceful and the Mexican restaurant is right around the corner! I love it.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
It makes me smile. Beginning with a single thought and using my hands to create a finished product just makes me smile. And to know it helps others as well, yeah. It may not be much, but its enough for me.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Know who you are and always be true to yourself! ALWAYS!!!
