Meet the Artist:
WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
Dr. LaShawnda Lindsay is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and a formally trained African-centered educational psychologist, mental health counselor, and social scientist.
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
My process is usually inspired by life everyday occurrences and research that connects with me. I take a moment to truly sit with my product and let my innate creativity flow like the involuntary action of breathing. It’s natural to me and soothing. I use references from pictures, the environment, or simply my mind’s eye. I create and do not necessarily track the method of how, I just do. Call it divine inspiration, call it a life distraction, I call it art.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
I’m a left-handed creative and a research scientist at Wellesley Centers for Women.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
It provides me the feeling and action of autonomy in its truest form. People need to feel like this more often and I strive and continue to be the living representation of it.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Do it only if it feels natural, like waves crashing on the beach, like a bird flying through the air; if it flows naturally from you, do it
