locally handmade & handpainted pottery

Meet the Artist:

WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
We’re originally from Buffalo, NY, I am an Art teacher/artist and Kris is a landscaper and plant specialist by trade. We followed our heart to move to South Carolina, and started our pottery 6 years ago. We love making our functional ware and I love decorating it with colorful underglaze painting., and Kris enjoys the array of colors she creates glazing. Our motto- admire it and use it.

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
Our process is basically the same as many other potters, except that after the piece has been made and is in the dry greenware stage , I freehand designs, scenes and animals onto the surface of the ware before firing it to bisqueware, It is then finished usually with a food safe clear glaze, fired at 2240 degrees making it food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Love it for the art and use it everyday for the functionality.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Nature and animals usually, though color and sounds can bring about the story that I paint on the piece. For Kris it is the form of the clay that creates the life it takes on.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
At our “age” we’re still open to adventure, learning, and ideas and techniques.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
Great food , local shops, and folks who really appreciate their local artists.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
We create because that is a gift given by Our Creator to share with others and to sustain ourselves.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Don’t put your life on hold and be so busy with work and daily comportment that you don’t make time for your passion.

We love our customers and their pets and we love our pottery especially when it gives our customers joy.
