handmade unique pottery inspired by nature.

Meet the Artist:

WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?
My name is Ashley Havy, I’m from Savannah GA, and I make pottery mostly on the potters wheel.

DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.
Most of my pieces are made on the potters wheel. I’ll throw and trim the pieces and then, my favorite part, I’ll decorate them using a variety of techniques. Some techniques I use are carveing and etching into pieces as well as hand painting and processes such as mishima and sgraffito

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I find a lot of inspiration in floral and geometric patterns, especially patterns I see on clothes and in fabrics.

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.
Last year I got to do so much fun traveling, I went cross country with my best friend to California, visiting the Grand Canyon and Zion along the way, as well as going to Virginia, Colorado, Alaska, and the Czech Republic with my sister where we have family.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.
I have never been but I have always wanted to visit.

WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?
The thing I love about making ceramics is the end results, it’s the connections that is made through sharing the things I make whether it’s a cup of coffee with a friend or dinner on handmade tableware. These connections are what I enjoy bringing to other people through the handcrafted pieces of art I send off into the world.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?
Just go for it, if you have an idea you wanna try or a market you wanna apply to but don’t know if you’ll get into, you don’t know until you try.

 COVID-19 Update

The Spring Handmade Fair will be postponed. A new date has not been set yet because things are changing everyday, but it will be rescheduled as soon as possible. We will be promoting the vendors and encourage you to support their small businesses during this difficult season. We can't wait to see you all as soon as we are able. We are praying for health and safety for everyone and their families.
