WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO? My name is Wesley L Stewart, an artist, and professor. Born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, I create private and Public Art. When not involved in my own work, I collaborate with other artists and creatives
DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS. I turn sketches, illustrations, photos, or whatever else into metal art, using a CNC plasma cutter, welding, and other means at my disposal.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU? My inspiration comes from sketching; tinkering in the studio; color and lines; working with other creatives, and reading about artists while studying their artwork.
FUN FACT ABOUT YOU. I sometimes work with my beautiful and talented wife – Colleen Beyer Stewart – who is also an artist and educator. Not only did we meet during graduate school, but also lived three houses down from each other at Georgia Southern. Our birthdays are a day apart as well.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA. I love all the sidewalks that allow people to walk and not have to drive from one location to another. It is also where all the cool kids hangout 😉
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE? It is my DNA to express myself and create.
WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS? You delay success with procrastination. Get up, work hard, execute, repeat.
