I was born & raised in Rome, GA, and moved to Savannah, GA for a job after majoring in Chemistry at Georgia Southern (Go Eagles!). After working at a chemical plant for 3 years, I decided to leave the lab & focus on my businesses – and I’ve never looked back! If you’re ever in the Savannah area, you can find me running back & forth between my three businesses: Fête + Superbloom + Starland Strange and Bazaar! At Fête we create cocktail infusions which is a clean & creative way to enjoy your favorite cocktail without the added dyes, preservatives, and artificial sweeteners! Pour your liquor into one of our infusions, let it sit for at least 2 days, enjoy over ice or be your own bartender and create a craft cocktail at home! DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS. We have a production space in the Starland District in Savannah, GA. All of our ingredients are sourced locally or from small family farms. We hand bottle, label, and wax dip each infusion in our production space! When developing a new flavor, our shop looks like a chemistry lab with jars and notes everywhere until we find the perfect recipe! WHAT INSPIRES YOU? I hope Fête encourages people to gather again. I am inspired by the cocktail parties and soirees of the 1950s and 1960s…before cell phones, pre internet, when there were not electronic distractions & everyone was truly present in the moment at the party. Host a dinner party, invite friends over for a game night, have a drink with a new coworker! FUN FACT ABOUT YOU. I have at least 15 rings on my fingers at all times – even while sleeping or swimming! I create new products, flavors, and businesses, so when others are out shopping and enjoying life, they have a new experience…any little thing to make their day brighter. LEFTY’S CHILL POPS handmade all-natural frozen treats Meet The Artist WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?Hello, I am Sarah from North Augusta. During the day I am a project manager for a real estate company and at night I enjoy creating new recipes for frozen treats. I grew up in Ohio and settled here after serving in the United States Air Force DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.I search for the best and freshest ingredients from local sources to create a frozen version of favorite drinks and desserts. For the fall I have created great flavors like Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Tiramisu, and more! I mostly use dairy-free and gluten-free products when I can and have found that they make the frozen treats taste even better! WHAT INSPIRES YOU?I named Lefty’s Chill Pops after my grandfather, Leo. His nickname was Lefty and was lovingly called that by all friends and family. He loved desserts and spending time with (spoiling) his grandchildren. He always had some kind of frozen treat ready for us when we visited. I want to carry on that tradition and offer tasty, wholesome (for the most part, it’s okay to treat ourselves), frozen treats that can be enjoyed all year round. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.I have two rescue dogs, one is 130 pounds and the other is only 20 pounds, and two rescue cats. They are banned from the kitchen when I am making Chill Pops, so to make up for that I have created a pet friendly version called “Pup Pops” (cats like them too) that they get to have later. FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.I did not grow up in this area, but have grown to love Augusta over the past few years. Downtown Augusta has a lot of history, I learned a lot during the canal tour by the discovery center, many different festivals, great restaurants, and awesome people! WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?I love to create new frozen treat recipes that my family enjoys and that remind me of the fun times of my childhood. It is a great feeling when someone first tastes a Chill Pop and says “Yummmmm!”, then I know I have done something right. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS? One piece of advice I would share is to keep trying and experimenting. It can take time to find the right process, material, or ingredient.
