STAINED GLASS BY KALEIGH

STAINED GLASS BY KALEIGH stained glass suncatchers with 90-100% recycled or found materials Meet The Maker WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?Hi, all! I’m Kaleigh. I was born and raised in Maryland but, as an Army vet, I’ve lived all over the country. I recently transplanted to Grovetown, GA from Boulder, CO in May 2023. By day, I work full time as a Marriage and Family Therapist. By night, along with all of my other crafty hobbies, I make stained glass pieces out of my home office/garage. I’ve been working with glass for about a year. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.I believe myself to be pretty eco-conscious and I make every effort to ensure all of the crafting I do, not just glass, is done in conscious way. Because glass is made from sand and sand is not a renewable resource, I don’t purchase newly manufactured glass in order to lessen my environmental impact in the arts and craft world. This means that all of my pieces are made with 100% recycled/reused/discarded glass, and 90-100% recycled, reused, or found materials. This also means that every piece is 100% unique and, when I run out and can’t find anymore recycled glass, I can’t make anything else! WHAT INSPIRES YOU?Color. I love to wear neutrals or all black, but my home and the art that I gravitate to is full of color. The vibrance of colorful glass is really what gravitates me to work with this material. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.I was a beekeeper when I lived in Colorado! FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.Nightlife, appreciation of arts & culture. WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?I am a finished product type of person. With the majority of my life and work, I have to trust the process and follow through with things not knowing what the end state will be, or if there will even be an end/resolution. With making, I get to define what “done” means and looks like, and that’s incredibly satisfying. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?Don’t worry about starting over. I’ve ripped apart projects that were almost finished because I wasn’t happy with how they were turning out. Very rarely does pushing through, settling, or “grinning and bearing it” produce fruitful results. Truly, this applies to making and life in general. All of my pieces are priced on set sliding scale (price range provided in my booth), no questions asked model. I truly believe that makers should be paid what they’re worth AND folks should have access to pretty things. I’ve tried to strike that balance with my sliding scale in the best way I could. I also have a “recycle” program with the intent to keep art and usable materials out of the landfill. If you ever get tired of the piece you purchased (I mean, we’ve all gotten tired of something after we bought it, haven’t we?), you can return it to me in its original condition and get a discount on another item/custom piece (based on availability of glass, of course). VITAL WOODWORKS

VITAL WOODWORKS handmade wood housewares + gifts @vitalwoodwork Meet The Artist WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?I’m a relatively new woodworker and full-time Occupational Therapist. Originally from West Virginia, I’ve lived in Augusta for 32 years. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.I enjoy using both hand tools and modern power tools. I often see the shape of the finished product in the natural wood I’m working with. Many of my pieces are made for use in home music studios and are made from poplar wood. I suntan the poplar to help darken and enhance the natural grain of the wood. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?I am inspired by the shapes and colors found in nature. I love wood with lots of knots, grain, pattern and even things that some might consider defects. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.I’m a drummer and love kayaking. FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.The interesting old buildings that are being renovated and repurposed. WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?I believe God has given everyone a creative desire and the ability to appreciate beauty. It’s wonderful to make something beautiful or functional for people to use and enjoy. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?Don’t be afraid to make what you like. You don’t need to do what others are doing (unless that’s what you like to make). RETURN TO VENDOR PAGE

KARLY RAE CERAMICS

KARLY RAE CERAMICS handmade pottery – mugs, tumblers, berry bowls, spoon rests, + planters @karlyraeceramics @karlyrae.ceramics karlyraeceramics.com Meet The Artist WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?My name is Karly French, I am from Alpharetta, GA and I am a potter. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.I create simple ceramic goods on the pottery wheel. I take a lump of clay and turn it into a functional piece whether it’s a mug, berry bowl, planter, etc. Every piece goes through two kiln firings and a trimming, handling and glazing process between those firings. A small batch of work typically takes 3-4 weeks. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?Ceramics inspires me. The art of creating something out of nothing is very fulfilling to me. I am inspired by a simple, farmhouse look. I think it is timeless. I like neutral colors, I don’t want to color of my pieces to take away from the body and beauty of my pieces. Sometimes, less is more. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.I was an equestrian in college WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?Pottery is my escape. It is mentally therapeutic and just makes me happy. I have always been creative and loved art, but something about getting my hands dirty and making pretty things is just the best. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?If you have a passion for something, go for it! It doesn’t matter what it is, make it happen. Your life is so much better when you incorporate time for things you love. I am a work from home mom with a fulltime job, so this is my side hustle. Wildly Urban

WILDLY URBAN Handcrafted wood wall hangings, air plant, + suncatchers @wildlyurban @wildlyurban wildlyurbanco.com Meet The maker WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO?Hi, I’m Carrie! I live in Rock Hill, SC and have been making one of a kind wood air plant hangers since 2017. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS.Each piece begins with salvaged wood, scraps of wood from local woodworkers, wood from construction dumpsters or leftover pieces from various home projects. These pieces get sawn to a workable thickness on my table saw, then I draw out shapes and cut out each piece by hand on my bandsaw, drill holes for hanging hardware, sanded smooth and oiled with a beeswax/orange oil blend to enhance the natural color and woodgrain. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?Nature and our surroundings play a big part in inspiring my work. In some cases, the inspiration is obvious like my moon phase pieces, and others are a little more abstract. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU.My husband and I just bought a sailboat. FAVORITE THING ABOUT DOWNTOWN AUGUSTA.The riverfront and the charming small businesses around town have me looking forward to visiting the area for the first time. WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE?It’s an expression of myself and what I love. Creating the pieces is a soothing and almost meditative experience. Seeing the pieces come together is exciting and I get giddy when I think up a new design. And then when customers see my pieces and connect with one or more of them, their eyes light up, they gasp in aw, that brings me pure joy! WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS?Creativity comes and goes in waves, and that’s ok. RETURN TO VENDOR PAGE
