LART WORKS local art @lart__works vsco.co/lartworks/gallery Meet The artist WHO ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOU FROM, & WHAT DO YOU DO? Lauren Rich or better known as LART (Lauren + Art)! Currently, I am a senior at Augusta University with a concentration in Graphic Design, however I have a love for more hands on mediums such as printmaking. I am a contemporary artist and designer whose unique style is driven by a fascination with color and forms. I also love to incorporate playful illustrations and abstract designs, with structured arrangements that highlight key design elements such as line, shape, color, & texture. Influenced by street and skate culture, my recurring use of checkboard throughout my work showcases a deep appreciation for urban culture and geometric shapes. I strive to express my creativity across diverse mediums, including digital art, illustration, installation, & printmaking. DESCRIBE YOUR PROCESS. My work is a combination of screen printing, risograph, and digital designs. Printmaking satisfies my urge to create physical art with my hands as well as allows me to move my digital designs past the computer screen and create a more personal connection with my work. WHAT INSPIRES YOU? I see everything in shapes and flat colors. My pattern work, bold lines, and orderly arrangements come from my love for geometric shapes and patterns as well as my appreciation for street and skate culture. FUN FACT ABOUT YOU. Farmhaus and Nacho Mama’s definitely stand out as some of my favorite places to eat at in downtown Augusta. I also love walking through the downtown area and seeing all the murals and art. WHY DO YOU LOVE TO DESIGN, CREATE + MAKE? Art has quickly become a means of expressing myself, a therapeutic outlet, and a way to communicate with others without using words. I love being able to take the most basic elements of design such as line, shape, and color and arrange these elements into more exciting compositions that stimulate the eye. I love seeing how color has the power to change the way people see themselves and see the world. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD SHARE WITH OTHER ARTISTS + MAKERS? Life isn’t as serious as people make it out to be. If there’s something you want to do or something you really want to create, even if you think the idea is dumb, just do it! Lean into what comes naturally to you and don’t think too hard about what you’re making. RETURN TO VENDOR PAGE
